Having crooked teeth affects your speech, eating habits and appearance. This problem may also prevent you from smiling beautifully, potentially dampening your self-confidence. Fortunately, Loveland Dental Group offers Invisalign® as one of our premier orthodontics options. Let us discuss how it works.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an effective alternative to traditional metal braces. They are made of clear, plastic dental trays, which are worn snugly on your teeth. These invisible aligners are made of multilayer SmartTrack® material that helps correct various degrees of crooked teeth.
The Invisalign Process
Your reliable dentist may first perform a comprehensive dental exam to assess your current teeth condition. This also allows us to check for any problems which may require other dental treatments. Upon determining you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, we may then take digital x-ray images of your dental arch. This serves as our guide when creating your teeth molds through the Invisalign software.
We’ll then forward this information to Align Technology, Inc. Invisalign technicians would then create a virtual model and animated video showing your treatment plan. If there are no adjustments or changes needed, they will send your first aligners to our clinic.
Why Use Invisalign
Invisalign helps correct different teeth alignment issues, regardless of your age. That said, the length of treatment depends on various factors, such as the complexity of your teeth misalignment and your dentist’s skills. It’s also important that you follow their proper usage. For one, make sure to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. You may remove them when eating or brushing your teeth.
Although made of plastic, Invisalign works as good as metal braces and wires. Its almost undetectable appearance makes it a great option for those who want to achieve a straighter smile and keep looking great while doing so. In fact, your pediatric dentist suggests using this option if your children are in their teens to help maintain their self-image. Its material also reduces your risk of having gum erosions or sores.
